The story of this record starts 3 years ago...
after two 7 inches applaused by the blogosphere, and reknown underground critics like Jay Hinman, Doug Mosurak and Byron Coley...Cheveu is invited at the Big convention of « garage rock » in Memphis, Gonerfest in 2006, headlining the party with the likes of Jay reatard(final solutions), Jack Oblivian or viva l'american death the middle of a 3 weeks tour. Kevin « Pink Reason » then says he's seen one of the best shows of his life.
9 months later they come back on the west coast on a tour setted up by DJ rick (noise/expé Honzo) with the great band Tyvek...playing with the A frames, the intelligence or eat skulls (s-s records releases a Cheveu/Tyvek 7 split for the tour).
Then trying to pull together 3 years of attempted tracks, home recorded, remixed, CHEVEU releases its first LP in March 2008, defending it during a 2 weeks tour, playing with Tyvek, TV ghost, psychedelic horseshit, los llamarada (another s-s records find) and Half-japanese veterans (WFMU 50th anniversary).

Cheveu has been called the « harbingers » of the current shit/pop/gaze move that includes such different bands as Tyvek, Pink reason, Times new Viking or TV ghost.
and has been tagged « glue wave » (french rock movement), weird punk, artdamaged pop, then shitgaze.
Some see that they've contributed a lot to the move from the « classic » garage scene to a more free/experimental and noise music in the US. As the Intelligence, cheveu manages to produce noise without fucking up amps or guitars...

Whatever this LP « manages not to lose catchy songs in experimental attemps » (scott soriano word).

All songs have been home-recorded using superimposed live/not live takes...creating a kind of real/old/current feeling...
Originally, people were seeing some Metal urbain/Wire/the Fall influence but it's maybe a little different.
For instance :
Dog (4th track), is a pretty cool catchy single (trio meets oblivians or rolling stones?)
Superhero (6th track) is a piece of electro-surf damaged rock, with a brainlocked guitar riff.
Unemployment blues (last track) and happiness (3rd track) are seen by some as 21th century blues/boredom/ lack of constitence syndroma or something, great tunes anyway...
